About This Planting:

The OG is inspired by Oklahoma's iconic tallgrass prairie. It brings beauty and ecological value of North America's most diverse ecosystem into a manageable garden setting. This planting combines warm-season native grasses with long-lived wildflowers to create a naturalistic landscape that changes with the seasons and provides habitat for pollinators, birds, and other beneficial wildlife.

The layout is intentionally layered, with the tallest grasses and flowering species forming a backdrop while shorter wildflowers occupy the foreground. This creates depth, year-round visual interest, and allows each species to remain visible as the planting matures.

During the first year, many native plants focus on developing extensive root systems before putting on significant top growth. By the second and third growing seasons, the planting becomes fuller, more resilient, and increasingly drought tolerant.

This kit is ideal for sunny locations where a bold, prairie-inspired planting is desired. Once established, it requires relatively little maintenance beyond seasonal cleanup and occasional weeding during the establishment period.
